“Another fun day filming. What is always so fun, are the multiple ways broadcast media works. This was a field segment, which means these are taped then edited and released on another date. Not always when you pitch an idea does it happen in seconds. This was a segment idea I pitched three months prior to filming. The idea was wines to pair with pizza for national Pizza Month. I networked and met a Great Guest, Mandy Naglich, who has a fun book called ‘How to Taste’. Mandy was the perfect person to talk food and wine pairing. But the host of the show could not film it for national pizza month- so as a good PR person does , you don’t lose the idea, but make it work another date. When in PR it is always great practice to create win/win situations, and network with other PR professionals to create a visual story, especially when it’s a field segment. With this segment, my guest connected me to a PR gal who represented a pizza restaurant in NYC. She was excited and opened to have her client added into our segment, and I was thrilled to have a great backdrop for my vision. Living in NYC you see all kinds of filming and it was great to have a scene of real people just in the background. The filming went great- sometimes you have one vision and then it alters a bit when you are there live filming. The show was NBC Live and the host, Dahiana Perez, was vivacious and full of energy which makes for great visuals, since people can’t smell or taste, the way hosts and guests communicate the story in words- it’s more important the way they communicate physically. The taping wrapped, and everyone stood for some lunch and chatter.”
